How to use Readspeaker

Readspeaker on page

What is Readspeaker?

Readspeaker is a tool which helps increase accessibility for those with visual impairments, low-literacy levels and those from non-English speaking backgrounds. Readspeaker enables users to listen to content of a webpage aloud, track their place on screen and translate content into another language.

Readspeaker is used by a number of credible health organisations and agencies such as Healthdirect Australia and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

How does it work?

To listen to the page content simply click on the listen button sitting at the top of a web page. Readspeaker will start to read the page content out loud.

An audio player will appear as Readspeaker reads the text.

In the audio player you can:

  • Pause the audio
  • Stop the audio
  • Use the rewind or fast forward buttons to navigate through the audio
  • Adjust the volume
  • Adjust the speed of the audio
  • Close the audio player
  • Toggle the settings

Readspeaker can also translate into 18 different languages.

Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish.
