A simple phone call saved Ivy’s skin.

When Ivy was just nine months old, her eczema flared so severely that her skin became raw, her little face puffy and sore, and her hands had to be covered with socks to stop her from scratching until she was bleeding. Her mum, Rachel, tried everything – doctor visits, new diets, countless creams – but nothing helped. And the wait to see a specialist felt endless.
Rachel was exhausted, overwhelmed, and heartbroken.
Then, one phone call changed everything. Rachel connected with a trained nurse who gave her trusted, evidence-based advice. Rachel learned how to use the right creams the right way and safely re-introduce foods to Ivy’s diet. The results were remarkable – Ivy’s skin healed.
“Getting the correct education made all the difference – not just for Ivy’s skin, but for me as a parent who felt defeated.” – Rachel
Across Australia, families facing allergic diseases are often left waiting months for specialist appointments. In that time, children suffer, and parents are forced to navigate a confusing maze of misinformation and fear.
At Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, we’re closing that gap through Allergy Connect – a free service that provides reliable information, practical support, and guidance from qualified health professionals.
Your donation can help provide:
- One-on-one support from trained Allergy Educators through our National Allergy Helpline
- Free tools and resources for families while they wait for specialist care
- Trusted, evidence-based advice to manage eczema and allergies
- Expanded programs for other allergic diseases, including food allergy

Now, a few months on from the worst point in Ivy’s skin journey, she is her happy, playful self again, enjoying the outdoors, eating her food without socks on and wearing short sleeves! For that, I am beyond thankful … my little girl can get back out in the community and be her little mischievous 2-year-old self.
Rachel – Ivy’s mum.
Please donate today to help us continue our free support service for families. Together, we can make sure people with allergies don’t have to face this journey alone.
