250K NATIONAL ALLERGY STRATEGY CAMP FOR SCHOOL AGED TEENS WITH SEVERE ALLERGY IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The National Allergy Strategy (NAS) has received some funding to engage with teens and young adults living with severe allergy and we are excited to invite you to the NAS 250K Youth Camp. The camp will be held from Friday 26 February to Sunday 28 February 2021 at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp in Hillarys, Western Australia.

We have chosen this Ern Halliday for its excellent facilities and activities on offer as well as its location – only 30 minutes from Perth CBD. Accommodation will be dormitory style (not tenting). Camp participants would need make their own way to Ern Halliday on Friday afternoon (4pm) and then be collected from the Ern Halliday on Sunday afternoon (2pm).

We will continue to work with the camp catering staff so that all with food allergy can be catered for. We will also have at least one allergy dietitian involved in meal preparation and service.

There is no cost to participate in the camp as we have been fortunate to receive a government subsidy for this camp. If your child is aged 10-17 and is at risk of anaphylaxis, they are invited to participate in the camp. The camp is open to teens from outside of Western Australia, however please note that travel costs are at your own expense.

A number of National Allergy Strategy/Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia staff will be attending the camp along with allergists, allergy nurses, allergy dietitians experienced in complex food allergy, who will be joining in with the activities.

The format of the camp will be a mixture of team activities and allergy information sessions run by health professionals. A full program will be provided to camp attendees at the camp. To find out what we did on our previous camps held in NSW and Victoria, visit the camp section of the 250K school aged teens website.

We hope that you are excited about the camp and if you would like to participate, please RSVP to Sandra Vale (NAS Manager) by Friday 18th December 2020 as places are limited.

Please feel welcome to contact Sandra via email should you require further information.
