    A workshop aimed at year 6 and year 7 students in preparation for high school

    Learning to live safely and independently with food allergies

    A workshop aimed at year 6 and year 7 students in preparation for high school

Combined Asthma & Anaphylaxis Management

Combined Asthma & Anaphylaxis ManagementCourse description:

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to competently manage asthma and anaphylaxis within the children’s service environment. In addition, support in the feedback of information to col-leagues and implementation of best practice asthma and anaphylaxis management procedures. There will be an opportunity to prac-tice asthma and anaphylaxis first aid through hands on interaction with placebo puffers, spacers, and EpiPen trainers.

Asthma management 

  • Signs, symptoms and triggers

  • Medications and delivery devices 

  • Correct use of an asthma puffer and spacer device. 

  • Recognising an asthma flare-up and assessing the severity 

  • Implementation of Nationally Recognised Asthma First Aid 

  • Asthma aware strategies for the children’s service environment 

Anaphylaxis management

  • Allergies and Anaphylaxis

  • Signs and symptoms of allergy and anaphylaxis

  • Correct use of EpiPen

  • ASCIA action plans

  • Action for allergy and anaphylaxis

  • Anaphylaxis management for education and care services

2017 dates:

  • Monday, 8th May; 10am-1pm

  • Monday, 21st August; 10am-1pm

  • Monday, 16th October; 10am-1pm
