ASCIA Conference 2019
At the Annual Conference of the Australasian Society Clinical Immunology and Allergy conference held in September 2019, consumers and medical experts convened to discuss self-reported antibiotic allergy, and the value of confirmatory allergy testing. Dr Norman Swan of the ABC’s Health Report moderated this lively and informal discussion. Maria Said, CEO of Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia was invited to join Clinical Professor Michaela Lucas and a team of health professionals to discuss the issue of antibiotic allergy.
Tick bites can cause mild to life-threatening allergic reactions to mammalian meats such as beef, pork, lamb, kangaroo, goat and venison. The tick bites occur before any allergic reactions to mammalian meats. The allergic reactions to meat are typically delayed for 2-10 hours after eating the meat.
