Launch: Allergy Connect® education and support program

We are delighted to launch Allergy Connect®, an Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia (A&AA) education and support program. This program is a significant leap forward in our vision to support individuals with allergies, and we’re starting with eczema!

The Eczema Connect pilot research project is a research collaboration with The University of Western Australia and Perth Children’s Hospital, and the first of the Allergy Connect® programs. The Eczema Connect pilot research project is a patient education project that supports the work of the Shared Care for Allergy project.  Funding has been received from the National Allergy Council for research and from donors and supporters of A&AA to progress consumer education for patients on wait lists for specialist care.

What is Allergy Connect®?

Allergy Connect® is an online education program designed to use the time gap between referral and specialist appointment for individuals with allergies by empowering them with an education program to manage their allergic condition.

It will use the latest digital technology to bring evidence-based information to the patient and is a collaboration, bringing together health professionals including specialists, allergy educators, and, most importantly, people living with allergies.

How will it help people with allergies?

The core goal of Allergy Connect® is to empower patients with the knowledge they need to manage their allergic disease effectively while waiting for their allergy specialist, other specialist, or healthcare professional appointment. This education will allow individuals to make informed decisions about managing their allergies.

Allergy Connect® will direct people to helpful information and offer hope to those navigating the often-challenging world of allergies, including eczema.

How we are progressing – Trial Phase

At present, the Eczema Connect® education and support study that we have just launched focuses on eczema and has started as a research trial. During this stage, we are collaborating with experts, patients, and healthcare providers to fine-tune the program’s features and assess its functionality.

Our goal is to make Eczema Connect® an easy-to-use, comprehensive resource for individuals with eczema. We hope that once we have collected research about eczema, we can broaden the program to include food allergies, allergic rhinitis, and other allergic conditions.

What can people do now?
