We would like to congratulate both A/Prof Richard Loh and A/Prof Sheryl van Nunen who each received an Order of Australia Medal earlier this year.
Order of Australia Medal awarded to A/Prof Richard Loh
We are very proud to let you know that past A&AA Medical Advisory Board member, past A&AA Board member, and Patron of the National Allergy Strategy, Associate Professor Richard Loh, has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
Richard, alongside co-chair Maria Said (A&AA CEO) and several others, launched the National Allergy Strategy in 2015.
The National Allergy Strategy, a partnership between A&AA and the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy, has progressed many initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of people with allergic disease. Richard is well known to many in the allergy community as a paediatric clinical immunology/allergy specialist at the Perth Children’s Hospital, and Perth Allergy. Richard has been awarded the OAM for his contribution to medicine, particularly to clinical immunology. We extend our congratulations to Richard on his award
Order of Australia Medal awarded to A/Prof Sheryl van Nunen
We are also very pleased to let you know that Associate Professor Sheryl van Nunen has been awarded the OAM for her contribution to medicine, particularly to clinical immunology. Sheryl has championed the original research into tick-induced mammalian meat allergy. Her years of research and discovery are now well published in medical journals globally.
Sheryl has worked tirelessly to help people with tick-induced allergy through the volunteer organisation TiARA – Tick Induced Allergies Research and Awareness that she founded and continues to run with a committee of experts and people affected by tick induced allergies. TiARA continues increase awareness and understanding, improve management of tick bite and progresses research into tick-induced allergies. We extend our congratulations to Sheryl on her award.
