Egg allergy is one of the most common food allergies in childhood, affecting about 8 percent of infants aged 12 months. 80 percent of these infants are likely to outgrow their egg allergy within the first few years of life. However, a very small number of people have egg allergy for life.

  1. Why is it ok for myself to still have egg in my diet while I’m breastfeeding my baby who was IgE mediated, allergic to eggs? She gets eczema when I have eggs in my diet. (watch at 32:22)

Dr Merryn Netting

Merryn is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and NHMRC Early Career Fellow based at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.  Merryn is an experienced paediatric dietitian with over 30 years of clinical experience. Her research is focused on the long-term effects of early life dietary patterns, specifically related to prevention of food allergy. Merryn works closely with A&AA through her work on the National Allergy Council advisory committee.
